My name is Matt Mueller. I am twenty-one years old. I live in the very cold, very cheesy state of Wisconsin. Right now I am a senior studying Computer Science and Finance at the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
I absolutely love making web applications. Building a web application pushes you into fields that you have previously not explored. From the technical details of database and algorithm design to the business side with marketing and economics. It even allows you to explore your own creativity with graphic design and art. As I work towards obtaining both a technical and business degree, I hope to learn the entire spectrum from taking a product from start to finish. Aside from school and various web projects, I also love teaching. I have a job on campus where I teach students various software packages and web languages. One day I’ll be teaching a bunch of Art majors the ins and outs of Photoshop and Illustrator. The next day I’ll teach Excel and HTML to a group of business majors. I even directed a play for incoming freshman to teach them about the technology on campus. I find Software Training for Students (STS) to be very rewarding and my portfolio will surely reflect some of my work done with STS. This past Spring, I traveled all the way around the world to study abroad in Sydney, Australia. Living in Sydney was an incredible experience. I traveled all along the coast from Melbourne to Brisbane, I bungee jumped and skydived in New Zealand, and I snorkeled and relaxed in Fiji. I also had the amazing opportunity to intern at Yahoo!7 while I was there. Yahoo!7 is very unique in that it has a 50:50 partnership with Australia’s local television channel 7. Yahoo!7 is primarily responsible for Channel 7’s online presence, so not only did I get to experience Yahoo’s culture, I got some experience in television! I worked on the lifestyle team, creating newsletters and galleries for fashion shows and cooking channels.
